Iqra
National University (INU) is a newly chartered
university having its campus at Hayatabad Phase II
Peshawar. Although it is newly chartered but the name
“Iqra” is not new for the students, business circles and
job market since the management, the faculty and the
infrastructure is serving the nation at Peshawar for the
last one decade, when it emerged as a campus of Iqra
University Karachi chartered by the Government of Sind
in year 2000 at University Town in a rented premises.
During this period of time the performance of the campus
was continuously being monitored by different regulatory
authorities like HEC, HERA and PEC and the efforts of
the management of the campus was always recognized and
highly appreciated by the high-level inspecting teams.
Resultantly Higher Education Commission awarded the
management of the Iqra University Karachi Peshawar
Campus “No Objection Certificate” authorizing Government
of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (then NWFP) to elevate the legal
status of the campus to a full-fledge university in the
name and style of “Iqra National University”.
The Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa very kindly
recommended the draft proposal to the Governor Khyber
Pakhtunkhwa for consideration and necessary action. The
Honorable Governor very kindly promulgated the “Iqra
National University Ordinance 2010” vide “Khyber
Pakhtunkhwa Ordinance No. VII of 2010” on November 25,
2010. The ordinance was presented in the provincial
Assembly in form of a bill that was unanimously approved
by the parliamentarians on April 12, 2011.
It was forwarded to the Governor, who very kindly
assented it on April 19, 2011 and is published in the
Government Gazette on Saturday April 23, 2011 as an “Act
of the Provincial Legislature of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa”. |
